Lisa Faulkner Guide

Some places within us can’t be reached by thinking alone.

I offer private, intentional guidance for people exploring deeper personal and spiritual growth, through careful preparation, supported journey work, and an integration process that continues long after the experience itself.

The Work

A thoughtful space for listening inward.

People come to this work for many reasons. Some feel a quiet pull toward something they can’t yet name. Some are standing at the edge of a transition. Some have spent years understanding their lives from the neck up and sense there is another way of knowing.

I work privately with a small number of people at a time. Together we approach intentional journey and ceremonial work as a process with a beginning, a middle, and a long, important afterward. We prepare with care. We enter ceremony with respect. And we give real attention to what comes next, because an extraordinary experience matters most when it changes how you live your ordinary days.

I am a guide. I don’t diagnose, treat, or tell you what your experience means. My role is to help create the conditions in which you can hear what is already within you.

  • On the heart

The heart knows things the analytical mind cannot always explain.

  • On guidance

The answers are yours. I help make enough quiet to hear them.

  • On being human

We don’t have to leave our humanity to touch something sacred. Perhaps the invitation is to bring the sacred more fully into being human.

The Process

A journey is never a single day.

Much of what matters happens before and after. I work with each person across the whole arc, so the experience itself sits inside a larger, unhurried process.

Before

Intention & Preparation

We begin with a private conversation. Before anything else, I want to understand you.

  • What is bringing you to this work?
  • What feels alive in your life right now?
  • What are you seeking, and what are you genuinely ready to explore?
  • Is there something you want to understand, release, reconnect with, or create?

We don’t force an intention. We listen for the one that feels true. From there we prepare together: practically, emotionally, and in the body.

Preparation is also where we look honestly at whether a particular experience is right for you, including your health history, current medications, life circumstances, and the legal and practical realities of what’s being considered. Not every experience is appropriate for every person or every season of life. Saying so plainly is part of taking this work seriously.

During

The Journey

You enter a private, intentional, supported ceremonial space.

I don’t script what your experience should be or steer you toward a destination. I stay present, attentive, and steady, tending the space so you can meet whatever arises with curiosity and compassion. What arises may be expansive, tender, difficult, or very quiet. Every experience is different, and none of it has to be performed or achieved.

I’m not there to tell you where to go. I’m there to help create the conditions in which you can listen to what is already within you.

After

Integration & Embodiment

The experience itself isn’t necessarily the transformation.

What happens afterward, how you come to understand what arose and how you live differently because of it, is often where the deeper work begins. Each experience includes one to two integration sessions, with additional support available when it’s helpful.

More on integration

About Lisa

I remain a student of this work.

For seventeen years I coached women’s basketball. Much of that work had little to do with the game.

It was about helping people move through pressure, doubt, loss, and growth, and watching them discover capacities they didn’t know they had. It taught me something I still believe: people carry enormous wisdom inside them. A good guide doesn’t hand them answers. A good guide helps them trust what they already know.

My own path led me further inward, into meditation, contemplative practice, embodiment, ceremony, and the exploration of consciousness. Over time my practice has centered more and more on the heart. I haven’t abandoned reason or discernment; I rely on both. I’ve simply come to understand that some kinds of knowing are experienced rather than solved.

I don’t consider myself enlightened, and I haven’t figured it all out. I keep studying, keep practicing, and keep learning from the people I sit with. I take the responsibility of accompanying another person seriously, and I believe part of what makes a guide trustworthy is that she remains a student.

I live in Southern California, close to the ocean, which is still one of my great teachers in patience, rhythm, and letting go.

Integration

Integration turns insight into embodiment.

A meaningful experience can leave you with more than you know what to do with: images, emotions, questions, a changed sense of what matters.

Integration is the unhurried work of making sense of it and letting it shape how you live. I don’t interpret your experience for you. I’ll offer reflections, questions, and practices, but the meaning is yours to discover. My part is helping you hear it.

Some insights settle in a week. Others take a season. We move at the pace your life allows.

  • Insights and questions that arose
  • Emotions still moving through
  • Relationships, seen differently
  • Recurring patterns
  • Symbolism and imagery
  • Changes in perspective
  • Practices for the body
  • Carrying it into everyday life

What’s included

Every experience includes one to two integration sessions. When more time would be useful, additional integration support is available. If you’ve had a significant experience elsewhere and are looking for integration support, you’re welcome to reach out as well.

Who This Work May Be For

You may recognize yourself here.

  • You feel called toward deeper self-exploration, even if you can’t fully explain why.
  • You’re moving through a meaningful transition and want to meet it consciously.
  • You’re seeking more clarity about purpose or direction.
  • You feel somewhat disconnected from yourself and want to find your way back.
  • You’re exploring spirituality or consciousness and want a grounded companion for it.
  • You notice recurring patterns in your life that you want to understand.
  • You’ve had a profound experience and are still trying to make sense of it.
  • You want intentional support before or after significant inner work.

This work is not a substitute for therapy, medical care, or psychiatric treatment. If you’re in crisis or managing a significant mental health condition, please start with a licensed professional. I’m glad to talk about whether this work could sit alongside that care, never in place of it.

Questions

Things people often ask.

If your question isn’t here, bring it to our first conversation. No question is too basic.

What does working together look like?

It begins with a conversation, then moves through preparation, the journey or ceremony itself, and one to two integration sessions afterward. The pacing is shaped around you. Some people spend several weeks in preparation; some need more time in integration.

What happens during our first conversation?

We talk. I’ll ask what’s calling you toward this work, what’s alive in your life, and what you hope to explore. You can ask me anything about how I work. By the end, we’ll both have a sense of whether working together feels right. There’s no obligation to continue.

Do I need to know exactly what my intention is?

No. Many people arrive with a feeling, a question, or simply a sense that something wants attention. Clarifying an intention is part of what we do together, and the truest ones are often discovered rather than decided.

What is integration?

Integration is the process of understanding what arose during an experience and letting it inform how you live. It can involve reflection, conversation, embodiment practices, and small, concrete changes in daily life. It is where insight becomes something you can actually live.

How many integration sessions are included?

Each experience includes one to two integration sessions.

What if I need additional integration support?

Additional sessions are available when they’d be helpful. Integration doesn’t follow a schedule, and it’s common for things to keep unfolding for weeks or months. If what’s arising would be better supported by a therapist or medical provider, I’ll tell you so and encourage you to seek that care.

Is this therapy?

No. I’m not a licensed therapist, and this work isn’t psychotherapy. I offer personal and spiritual guidance, preparation, ceremonial presence, and integration support. Many people find this kind of work complements therapy well, and I welcome that.

Is this medical treatment?

No. I don’t diagnose, treat, or cure any physical or mental health condition, and nothing I offer is medical advice. If you have health concerns or take medications, please speak with your physician, and let me know so we can consider them carefully together.

How do I know whether this work is appropriate for me?

That’s exactly what our early conversations are for. We’ll talk openly about your health, medications, history, and circumstances. Some experiences carry real risks for some people, and sometimes the right answer is “not now” or “not this.” I would always rather say that than proceed with something that isn’t right for you.

What does a guide actually do?

A guide helps you prepare, holds a steady and caring presence during the experience, and supports you in making sense of it afterward. A guide doesn’t tell you what to feel, where to go, or what it all means. Think of it as tending the space so you can do your own listening.

Will we discuss specific medicines or substances?

This website describes my work at the level of experience. If a contemplated experience would involve any regulated substance, we’ll discuss it directly and privately: its nature and legal status where you are, the setting, eligibility, health and medication screening, safety requirements, and exactly what my role would and wouldn’t be.

Availability depends on applicable law, setting, qualifications, and appropriate safety screening. Some experiences won’t be available or appropriate, and I’ll tell you so plainly.

How are fees handled?

We’ll talk about fees openly in our first conversation, once we both understand what kind of support would actually serve you. There’s no cost for that first conversation.

Begin a Conversation

Every journey begins with a conversation.

We’ll talk about what is calling you toward this work, what you’re hoping to explore, and whether working together feels appropriate.

Write as much or as little as you like. I read every message myself and reply personally.

What you share here is kept private and used only to respond to you.
